Help with car insurance

Hi everyone,

I've just paid for my car insurance with More Than, but then saw that I could have got a cheaper deal with another company

Having looked at More Thans site, it says that you can cancel but they might charge an admin fee of £55.

Has anyone else cancelled with More Than before and were you charged?

Thanks

Bound to be a charge, Will it save you money paying that charge and going elsewhere?

Many insurers have a 14 day cooling off period whereby you can cancel as long as no claims have been made, the OP will need to read the MoreThan documentation to clarify if any charges are made.

I will never understand why people research for the best price, find one, pay up and then still keep looking for a better price.

    Its beyond me....................

And yes, even if you cancel within the 14 days cooling off period there will always be a charge, and rightly so,
they have done work for you, admin, postage etc. so it has to be paid for.
make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.

    Not "always"!

eg RAC and M+S are two I know of that don't make any admin/cancellation fee if you cancel during the cooling off period (they just charge pro rata for the time you've been on cover - useful to know about if you just want short term cover for any reason- eg. searching for the best price you can find whilst still having cover!)

There are regulations which insist on a cooling off period for certain financial products, but it appears that they can make a charge to cover costs.

If the cover has already started and you have been covered, it's not unreasonable to charge for the period covered, (otherwise you could get free car insurance by buying a succession of policies and cancelling on the 14th day) but I don't know the legal situation.
