car insurance for the unemployed

hi can any one tell me a cheap car insurance company which dosn't up the prices just because your unemployed. some company's won't even give you a quote if your unemployed and if you state you are employed it lowers the price by £500 in some companies , does any one know if they legally allowed to do this. please help really need to keep my car but looking as if im not going to be able to afford it

Of course, they are private companies and don't have to underwrite all the risks and at any price. It is based on statistics and risk assessment.
Keep shopping arround using all the price comparison webistes. Then start trying local insurance brokers and specialist motor brokers.0
