Eon, Simplyswitch, and how it doesnt always work
I thought I'd share my experience of how Eon did not cooperate with SimplySwitch so I ended up with no Amazon vouchers.
I had never switched, was on standard Southern Electric and British Gas so following advice here I chose to switch to Eon Fixonline 9.
On 22/12/10 SimplySwitch told me EON had declined my application because the MPAN was incorrect. I re-confirmed the number and they tried again.
On 7/01/11 SimplySwitch told me EON had declined my application again "because I was already their customer". I confirmed I wasn't and they tried again.
On 12/01/11 SimplySwitch told me EON had declined my application a 3rd time and regrettably I would need to contact EON direct.
Then EON put their prices up and discontinued the product.
I rang them they checked and said there was no indication I was already their customer and the MPAN and the MPRN all checked out. They couldn't comment on why my application had been refused as that was another department, but their manager said they would be prepared to honour the Fixonline 9 but only if I did it there and then. They also refused to credit SimplySwitch with the sale.
So that's what I did, but lost my vouchers from SimplySwitch (who I rang up afterwards and told what happened.)
To be fair, SimplySwitch were great, but the jury's out on EON! They are taking the service over this week.
