looking for a USB power external hard drive to store music. pics, vids etc to replace the existing 250GB western digital drive I have which is nearly full.
Not sure what sizes these come in but 500GB+ would be acceptable, would have to be able to use with PS3 and Xbox360 (guess they would anyway) I have a budget of up £100.
I'm using windows and my Dell Laptop has a eSATA connection (don't know much about eSATA)
Any help would be great, thanks

At that budget, I would buy 2 as suggested by previous poster, less than 100 + you have two copies of everything. Then save some copies to DVD just in case and give them to a relative to save. Folks will possibly suggest that you use "the cloud" but if your ISP is not unlimited then every 2GB you save on the preferred cloud safe adds on to your limit and normally it takes 15 x your download speed (approx) to up load them.
Edited: missed the USB powered bit that restricts your options a bit , sorry4.8kWp 12x400W Longhi 9.6 kWh battery Giv-hy 5.0 Inverter, WSW facing Essex . Aint no sunshine ☀️ Octopus gas fixed 5.07 + Octopus Intelligent Flux leccy

For LESS than £100 you can get at *least* a 1TB drive. Look at e-buyer where I've bought several. This would be 3.5". It's v.roughly double for 2.5". All very much cheaper than buying DVD's.0

I'd say get whatever you can at the cheapest price.
I got a 500g samsung s2... .last year for £40 - it was a michael jackson branded one. I keep it in the supplied leather case so no one knows
I have not seen a 500gb drive for that price since, though it is a good target to aim for. At the time the cost of a 1tb was near enough double the price so not worth getting.
(i understand that you want a usb powered 2.5" drive, not a 3.5" desktop type drive)0 -
Thanks all will give them a look, I know I could probably get more if its a mains powered drive but its just more convenient if its usb powered.

I have a Transcend Storejet 25 Mobile 500GB USB drive. I went for this model as it has a rubberised case that (I hope) should provide a bit more protection if I'm stupid enough to drop it on a hard floor like I did with my previous drive . Looks like they've got an updated model available now http://uk.transcend-info.com/products/ModDetail.asp?ModNo=293&LangNo=0&Func1No=&Func2No=0
