What do/don't you get or can/can't you do with a basic bank account?
I ask in case my son's bank follows First Direct's example and starts charging a tenner a month. He is on benefits and can't afford £10 or to have another product.
Thankyou.

Imagine someone holding forth on biology whose only knowledge of the subject is the Book of British Birds, and you have a rough idea of what it feels like to read Richard Dawkins on theology: Terry Eagleton

It varies from bank to bank. The good ones will offer telephone banking, debit card, internet banking and the usual frills excluding obviously any form of credit, cheque book and usually interest.
I can recommend:
Natwest - Step Account
Yorkshire Bank - ReadyCash Account
Both offer the above services. Hope that helps.0 -
