Bathroom Mixer Tap Problem

Hiya

I really hope someone can help me. Our bath mixer tap is not working. The hot water tap will not turn off so the boiler is on constantly and wasting water. We have now turned the water off.

We do have a new tap to put on it. But because the bath is partly into the wall and the side panel is actually tiled we have to use the current fittings which dont fit the new tap. We are having a part made up for us to fix the bits together but i was wondering if there was any easy way we could block the tap so we could at least have the water on. Ideally blocking the tap bit so we could still have a shower if possible but really i just dont want to have to turn the water on and off every time the kids need wash their hands or i want a cup of tea or put the washing machine on.

Thanks x

Oh No! Not another bath installation where you cannot access the underside. A bath panel is there to provide access to the underside of the bath. To make it un-removable is sheer folly. Do something about it before a leak under the bath gets you into a right mess.
I can afford anything that I want.

Its very rare that a tap that either wont turn of or turn on can't be repaired, this at least will allow you to have your water back on until the panel is sorted and new taps fitted.

    hi nutty,

turn your water off and while leaving the taps in (which will act as a vice) undo the tap heads, covers and insides and replace with a set of 'tap restorers' from b+q etc cost £20, the threads in the bath tap are a standard bsp half inch.
your taps then will work like brand new then.

Basin mixer taps are no longer alien to us. These faucets are virtually equipped with just about every characteristic as they quite simply could. This brings in mixer taps suitable and also a substantial device to regularize the steady flow of water distribution. Basin mixer faucets could mix and allow the water flow non-stop and smoothly.
