Timer on phone continues even when hand set put down

Hello moneysavers, I use a phone that has a timer on the handset. It is useful for keeping track on when your hour is up on a call. I have noticed that after ending the call and putting down the receiver, if I pick it back up the timer is still running. I have stopped using it. I cannot see any way of re-setting the time to zero if that would cure the problem. Many thanks.

It might help if you told us what phone you have.
You could try doing a Google search on the phone's name to see if there is an on-line manual available (I assume you don't have the original). There are two types of people in the world: Those that can extrapolate information.0 -
Hello, the phone is a betacom btr2000

From memory, the timer has a set of contacts of its own, seperate from the ones that loop the line to make/hang up the call. Probably dust or muck preventing the cintact closure, and fixed easily with a can of spray air blast, if you don't feel confident about disassembly.0
