Redundancy - employer refusing to pay

Hi all, looking for some advice for MIL, who has been made redundant from a full time job she has held for 6 years. This happened last Monday. Employer promised wages and redundancy verbally but has now refused to pay anything. He says he is being bought out?
The company is not showing as in liquidation or anything with companies house. It was a chain of 6 stores in England and Wales. 3 are definitely shut and I can find information for the other 3. No websites work etc.
What should MIL do? Is there a template letter as she has been advised to dispute her redundancy as she wasn't given notice etc.
I don't know what else to say so please tell me if I am missing important information. All advice welcomed.
Thank you

If you are being denied your rights, talk to your employer first of all. If you have an employee representative (eg a trade union official), they may be able to help. If this doesn't work, you may need to make a complaint using your employer's internal grievance procedure.

Thanks for the reply, but there is no union for her, and no employees left. All redundant. It's either going to be a tribunal or claiming the redundancy via statutory routeStill looking for the plot...... Anyone seen it???0

If the company is being brought out and thus still trading she has the right to be tupe'd to the new company
