Scottish Gas Service Cover Savings

Although my gas is supplied via EDF energy, I have a Gas Service Plan with Scottish Gas which provides an annual boiler service plus breakdown cover. My boiler is over 10 years old and Scottish Gas are the only company who cover it.

I took out the cover for £145 last year and this year they put prices up to £175. I ignored all their reminder notices and then today they phoned me and asked if I wanted to renew. I told them that I did but couldn't afford the price increase. I was surprised when they offered a reduction back to last years price of £145 - so I took it.

I wouldn't have expected a company the size of Scottish Gas to offer discounts but it's worth asking them.
