Beware leather jacket scam

The leather jacket scam has reared it's ugly head again
The handsome Italian asks directions to the airport and offers a leather jacket as a gift, then tells you he has been to a trade fair and has 6 leather jackets to get rid of as he doesn't want to pay duty on them, he is in a hurry to catch a flight to Milan and wants (in our case) £130 for six Emporio Armani leather jackets
He offers to take you to a cash point to get the money if you say you haven't got any, he also told us his wife had just had a baby and wanted the money to buy her some perfume

here is a link to see how they operate

Avoid at all costs they are fake.

  • In all honesty, anyone who gets taken in by this scam and who actually believes that they are getting £1500 to £2000 worth of original Armani clothing for only £130 shouldn't really be allowed out alone.

Yes I know it's been around for a while, it's worth mentioning in case it is new to some people, especially if he is in the area again. (Leeds area)
We weren't tempted but some more gullible person might be, I might add he is very believable in that he appears very genuine to you, very smart likeable and handsome even shows his id
  • Got stopped outside the Royal Marsden Hospital in Kensington 19th July. All very believable and totally charming with all the patter and props. BEWARE!

At least with the scam you get a half usable new leather or fake leather jacket.

The laptop scam is far more of a scam and you get a £5 laptop bag with 2 bottles of water inside it.

Its only greedy people who fall for this kind of scam. They see pound signs and don't see the obvious signs of a scam, those being your getting something for around 10% of its market value.
Everyones opinion is the most important.....no wonder nothing is ever agreed on.

I'm just leaving the services at South Mimms and a car sweeps alongside and drops the window, the driver asks in Italian accent the directions to Heathrow. After I give the directions he is profusely thankful and says 'would I like a gift from the back of his car, I work for Giorgio Armani'. I get out and he produces a couple of 'Armani' leather jackets in passable Armani wrappers. He stuffs both into an 'Armani' carrier bag and says 'these are for you'.....Then he mentions a suit that is also in the car. 'You have this too, but I need £200 so I can buy my son a gift, the jackets are worth £600 each and the suit £600 also'....at this point I realize that there is no 'gift' and he probably doesn't work for Armani and the jackets and suit don't either! I mumble something about not having any money and make a hasty exit....!

It's a more basic type of scam round here. Idiots approaching shoppers with bottles of vodka or whisky and saying their auntie works in an off licence and they've had to clear the shelves of spirits that don't have a health warning on the bottle.

Anyone daft enough to think a fiver's a good price for a bottle of whisky or vodka soon finds out the "whisky" is cold tea and the "vodka" is water.

What amazes me is the sellers, lads dressed all in black with their hoods up, sell the bottles 50 metres from a police station outside the supermarket and never seem to get challenged!

We had a tryer in the other day trying to sell us some Stihl chainsaws which he had left over from a show nearby. As there had been no shows nearby and knowing how easy it is to fake chainsaws he was sent on his way.
I'd rather be an Optimist and be proved wrong than a Pessimist and be proved right.
