My car insurance is coming up, any tips or ideas please?
Female (27 year old) (6 points) 2 years no claims
+Brother (26 year old) (3 points) 0 years no claims
R reg mondao, 1800.
Current quote from existing is £360+ for 3rd party, but after they phoned me and I told them I would be shopping around they said to come back to them as they had discounts they could put on. I'd like to go fully comp if I can afford it.
I had heard about a web site that compairs quotes for you. But I had a phone call from someone claiming that I'd been searching online and could claim 2 months free life insurance... I don't really want the phone calls (let alone at 8.30pm)

Dont put in your home/mobile number so you wont get the calls.
Go through https://www.quidco.com - barclays and tsb gets £120 cashback, pru gets £100 cashback.0 -
Remember that:
1) both of the above dont check a very large number of the insurers out there including some of the big players
2) they provide quotes based on assumptions and so the real quote and what they display can be different - one is better than the other on this front though
Nothing will beat the old fashioned yellow pages and phone + google and the web if you want the cheapest... comes down to a point of when the amount of time it takes to save money is more valuable then getting the quote £1 lower thoughAll posts made are simply my own opinions and are neither professional advice nor the opinions of my employers

Quidco is great but be careful.
There can be problems e.g. if youd didn't have cookies set up properly on your computer.
My advice is to only go for a cashback offer if you are not paying significantly more to get it.
If you pay more and then don't get the cashback you will be out of pocket.
If you can get a competitive quote through quidco then great !!
My insurance was £143 and I got £60 cashback.0 -
Wow, you can get cash back??
That gives me a good starting point. Thank you all.0 -

Another option for the comparison sites is https://www.comparethemarket.com (although they are pretty much a Budget broker panel with a couple of extras). You could also try https://www.gocompare.com but they have just launched and the panel is small.
If you're looking to compare nearly all the brands, you can try the quick profiling tool on https://www.insurancewide.com (literally takes 10 seconds as it is a quick ten question profiling form). If you want the detailed comparison, you could try the Connect tool which does the same as confused and moneysupermarket but it uses a comparison system which caters for more than just the price. All posts made are simply my own opinions and are neither professional advice nor the opinions of my employers0
