painting wooden kitchen cupboard doors

Has any one painted wooden kitchen cupboard doors if so what paint have you used?
My units are currently flat white with a grey in the grain if any one knows how to do this I would be happy to redo them the same its like a limed oak finish just with grey grain and white top. I know how to do limed oak just wouldnt know what to buy to do these.
They are not at all glossy and are regulary bleached and no paint has come off, and its a paint rather than a laminate I dont have any idea what this is already on them. I have 2 doors where a dog bed has chipped paint off them and the corner over the fryer is really disgusting, its quite yellow compaired to the others. Although for a white kitchen they havent done bad been in for about 16 years!
I need to do something with them I am currently house hunting and these need a tidy up to either sell the house or we will possibly be renting it out as houses are not selling well round here at the minute!
Its a large kitchen with a lot of doors and just replacing the doors will be too expensive especially if its rented as we will probably be looking at doing it all again to sell hopefully in a couple of years time if the market has picked up a bit.

any advice please

I did mine about a year ago using cupboard makeover paint from B&Q. I think it is crown. I'm really happy with the finish and it's lasting very well.

are they real wood or a laminate type finish?
beware. most kitchen unit doors/fronts are laminates. very few are real wood.
for laminates get the proper laminate primer. then you can paint almost anything you want on top.
    Get some gorm.

they are definatly real wood where the finish is coming off you can see its wood underneath it and the corners of the inside moulding are quite rough in places!. the top white has no sheen at all the grey thats been done on the wood grain has a slight gloss I would love to get this finish again, no idea what has been used I have been happily bleaching it for the last 15 years and none of it has come off from cleaning.

Replacing the doors isnt an option there is too many of them Also I have a full length glass display which no one seems to do anything like any longer so losing that would then mean new cornice and pelmet all round and a waste of money to do it to rent the place.

There are a lot of doors in there and I know its going to be a lot of work so I dont really want to do it in something that will be chipped off in a couple of weeks time

I painted our kitchen cupboard doors with regular matt paint and varnished over the top. oh give the doors a sand first!
