Raised beds using sleepers - how wide?

Thanks all! How much space would I leave between the beds? Anyone has any suggestions? I mean the space where I would be planting the trees...Spring into Spring 2015 - 0.7/12lb0

I have ordered all the timber for my beds today! Decided that sleepers are too expensive for me, so I have ordered treated timber, 150mm by 50mm (6" x 2"), and they will be cut to size and delivered on Friday - can't wait! Also, they will cut the corner posts for me, so I just need to assemble all.
One thing the guy mentioned is that I should line the beds (well, just the timber), as there are not enough studies on tanalith leaking into soil and if it is safe for growing vegetables. Not sure if I am going to line them though...
I have managed to arrange to fit 3 beds of 2.4m x 0.8m and one bed of 1.2m x 0.8m. These will be 2 planks high with one of the bigger beds being 3 planks high (sloping ground).
Now just need to sort out the compost/soil to fill the beds. I might go for the B&Q multi-purpose compost, as it seems to work out reasonably cheap compared with some topsoil I have seen online to be delivered to your home! With B&Q I can pop in and get couple of bags on the way home each day, and will build up my beds slowly. Or should I be looking for a specific mix for my beds?Spring into Spring 2015 - 0.7/12lb0 -
I wanted sleepers for my raised bed until I realised how mugh space they would take. I used reclaimed roof joists whih have done the job beautifully
Good luck wih the gardeningI am playing all of the right notes just not necessarily in the right order
