Offer on new Fiat 500 - too good to be true?

I'm looking for a new little car with low monthly repayments on a deal that allows me to change the car easily in 3 years. I've come across this on the Fiat website which seems like a fantastic deal. http://www.fiat.co.uk/Content/?id=23541 I'm interested in the Twinair Lounge which has 1.3% APR.

I'm a bit unsure about it as I've never bought a new car before or had a car on finance. Is it likely I'll get to the dealership and find that I'm somehow not eligible and the APR suddenly jumps right up or is this a genuine offer that I should be able to get?

I've got a car to part exchange, should I be able to do this with the same offer or is that deposit likely to be cash only?

I'm totally clueless about car finance so would appreciate any advice before I start looking.

Thank you.

Don't let the 1.2% APR cloud your judgement - the 1.2 is a cheaper per month as it's a cheaper car.

Are you aware the Twin Air gets appalling mpg figures when driven 'normally'? - official figures are well over 80mpg, tests have shown it's about 30mpg.
  • I have also been looking at this deal and although the lounge 1.2 will be cheaper per month the lounge twin air is a slightly more economical car and you get the benefit of being exempt from congestion charges!

    Whose tests?

I was thinking exactly the same, it seems like a lot of money for an inverted jelly mould.

Mainly the APR, 1.3% seems very low. I've been looking around and most of the APR rates are 4.5% - 9% on similar cars.

I would be interested to know where I can find the 'real' mpg data, the running costs of the car is going to be one of the main deciding factors when I buy my next car. Is there a website where this data is published?

It's an offer made by the manufacturer to sell more cars. Simple as that. Would you question a 0% offer?

It is completely impossible to find "the real MPG data" of any car. Every journey, every driver, every road is different. The only way to judge is to compare the manufacturers' official figures.

  • I agree with Flyboy, the mpg might not work out as great as the official figures but it will be one of the best on the market for the price and size of car.

I would be debating weather you want the lounge 1.2 or the lounge twin air? ....

    .... or the 500c :-)

He is right. You'll never get 80mpg. That's when it's in eco mode, and it's such a superb car, you'll turn the eco off, and drive it properly. It's nearly as good as the 500 Abarth.
    Buy one tomorrow.

Some people don't know what they are talking about. Her is one road test of said Fiat 500 Twin Air giving the fuel consumption at 69mpg. Not that the VED is zero rate on this car. However, it is a little pricey but then again you can't have everyting can you. Think of the long term savings.
