Long Term Dentist Visits

Apologies if there is another thread with this question already answered, I couldn't find it.

Basically, I will be visiting the dentist to have a lot of work done quite regularly throughout this year, I was wondering whether anyone could give me any advice I could use to save the pennies and pounds.

Many Thanks

Zeezan

    Hi,

I'm not sure if this is going to help you.

I have a friend whos a dentist and she tells me how they rip off the clients. Its a total mess even in a profession like dentistry.

I'm not saying that all the dentists are like that but you have to be careful. They would try to convince you to do a private treatment rather than what you are entitled to under the NHS. With private treatment, they earn big cash. They will try to scare you that if you go for NHS treatment, the quality of work done wont be good and that it wont last for long but if you get the work done through private treatment, its a better quality.

May be what they are saying is true to an extent but you should be fully aware as to what can be covered under the NHS and what not.

E.g I got my tooth filling done a few weeks ago and was told that if I want the same colour (white colorr) filling, i would have to pay extra since its going to be private treatment and if I choose the silver colorr filling which would look a bit odd if they are on the front teeth, I can get it done under NHS. But, when I asked my dentist friend, she told me that the white colour filling is also covered under the NHS!!!

    Hope it helps.

    Cheers
