DFS....There may be trouble ahead :)

We wandered into DFS 2 weeks ago just to have a look at the sofas and spotted a gorgeous 3 seater, 2 seater leather sofa combo priced at £899. It had been a customer return and priced to sell (the 3 seater price was £899 alone). After a conversation with a salesman we established it had been returned as it had started to sag in the middle after a fortnight. Apparently its previous owner was a very large man indeed and filled the 3 seater sofa entirely, hence the sag.

We got DFS to agree to completely repair the 3 seater and to remove a couple of scratches from the arm of the 2 seater. No problems, got this in writing on the receipt. Salesman also told us there was a pouffe that was currently in the warehouse that went with the 2 seater sofa turning it into a chaise.

Last friday came, sofas were delivered....no pouffe. On closer examination we noticed that although the 3 seater had been repaired the scratches to the 2 were still there. No leather care kit arrived either... Called DFS who were very apologetic, they said they would track down the pouffe and send it out with their service manager asap, along with the care kit.

Had a phone call an hour ago from DFS delivery men, "we have your pouffe". They arrived, no service manager and minus leather care kit. They left wrapped pouffe in the living room. I hadnt even been aware they were delivering today!!!

Ive had a look at pouffe now and Im not convinced that its the one that matches the sofas! The feet are different for starters and its higher than the sofas so the idea of turning one into a chaise seems impossible. Bear in mind that I hadnt seen the pouffe in the showroom owing to it being MIA. DH wants to have a look tonight and give his verdict if it matches or not, then call DFS tomorrow.

Anyone have any tips? Im a pretty patient person at the best of times so Im willing to just let it roll along, but DH isnt impressed with the aftercare.

    Small update..... DH has been into the store who have admitted that its not the pouffe that should have been with the sofas. Apparently the person who returned the sofas first had ordered a different pouffe to the one with the set. Now this is all well and good but we were told the pouffe was "matching" and it certainly isnt.

    The store have offered to collect the thing and give us £95.00 which I feel is grossly unfair considering they cost £250. we have asked for the pouffe that goes with the sofas only to be told its "Discontinued".

    Any suggestions?

    Personally I'd be tempted to cut my losses, tell them where to shove it and get my money back. (I guess I'm belligerent like that ;) ) Then just look for a new sofa elsewhere.

    £900 is a lot to spend on something you're not totally happy with.
