My son turns 16 Tomorrow.
He is in year 12, but plans to stay on for 6th form if they will have him, or college if they don't, but he does want/need to stay in full time education to follow his career path that he has choosen.
Do i ring ctc cm & cb myself tomorrow to remind them he is now 16, do i wait until they stop the money, will they ask me what he wants/plans to do?

Hi,
It doesn't matter that he's going to be sixteen tomorrow as your tax cedits and CB will carry on until August 31st whether he stays in education or not.
Tax credits and CB will both write to you to find out if your son is staying on in education, your payments should still carry on as normal but you must let them know if he leaves or works more than 24 hours a week.
PS: Just noticed you mentioned year 12? If he's 16 shouldn't he be in year 11? If so my info maybe wrong.0 -

what tomorrow? or wait abit..
I'm only asking as there is sometimes conflicting advice around and i don't want ds to loose out on his money.
oops yes you are right i just had to ask him what year he is in, it is indeed year 11
i'm still going along with senior school 1st year, 2nd year etc, i know where i am with that0 -
As Tehya said you'll continue to get CB until the 31st August. They'll write to you between now and June to ask what your son plans to do after he finishes his G.C.S.E.s
So you don't need to inform them that your son turns 16 tomorrow.
