  • I buy Baxters soup for my DH it's 59p in my local B&M Bargains! Love that shop!

  • Definitely just make your own if you can as the tinned ones are dear for what you get. Tastes better anyway and you are in control of what goes in it!

This explains why our soup is more expensive ...

Proudly voted remain. A global union of countries is the only way to commit global capital to the rule of law.
  • Another vote for Aldi - wild mushroom, and if you can still get it, the chicken and asparagus are fantastic. I saw last weekend that they now do french onion soup, if it's as good as the others it'll be a bargain. Sainsbury's basics soups aren't too bad either.

Me too you'd be surprised how CHEAP !!!!
I've got a slow cooker and bits and pieces bacon scraps, onion, celery, lentils, stock,garlic.....the only problem is you can seldom duplicate the recipe:)

I buy veg that is in the reduced section at work. This is the only time I buy prepared veg such as carrot batons if a bag of them is reduced to 10p.

Then I use basic veg stock tablets (10p for 10). I made a carrot and tomato soup for 61p for 4 bowlfuls.

Failing that, I go to Aldi and buy the veg that is part of the Super 6 and make soup out of that.

I usually buy Baxters soup for 59p in Poundstretchers, and have noticed B & M Stores stocking it at this price too. Poundstretchers usually have a good range of varieties available and well in date, but do watch that the tins aren't dented.

Like others on this thread, I also make my own soup/broth too.

Spar and others often have 4 tins of Crosse & Blackwell Tomato soup for £1.......have to admit, I find it quite tasty compared to some other tinned tomato soups.

Sainsbury own Brand Extra Thick Veg soup was 30p or sometimes 3 for a £1 a couple of years ago.

They moved it up into their move expensive Chunky label own brand and now it's 74p

I wrote and complained at the time and was told that customers had requested it !

Used to love that soup, meal own it's own (with 2 slices of bread)
