No Claims bonus expired.. is there any way round this?
Hi,
I have built up a No Claims bonus of 22 years claim free driving.. but just over 2 years ago got a new job with a company car.
I`ve now found after trying to insure a weekend runabout I have zero no claims because it expires after 2 years.
I do 40,000 miles a year in the company car, can`t believe they say i`m back up to maximum risk just because it`s been 2 years.
Anyone know a way round this or is there any company that have a longer than 2 years No Claims expiry?

Some companies ask if you have experience driving other vehicles eg co-cars. I know Admiral/etc do this0

Aviva accept NCD up to 3 years old.0

Have you asked the company who last insured you, or the one you are insured with for your company car? I have usually found companies to be flexible if they know you.0

Also, speaking directly to the insurer will help. Done it in the past where they will give you full no claims based on your record as a company car driver but add a caveat that if you do have an accident and claim you'd be liable for the full policy price sans no claims. After that first year you are ok again!
5t.What if there was no such thing as a rhetorical question?0 -
Yeah a lot of companies will give you full NCB upon reciept of a letter from your company saying you've had a company car without incident for 2 years etc etc. You just need to speak to them direct as the comparison sites can't cope with that.0

I have lost bonus that way before, as mentioned by rev-henry there is a chance they can take into consideration your claim free company driving period.
However unless the insurers are willing to take your old bonus into consideration you may be on to a loser here.
You need to speak to a person rather than doing an online quote.
For future reference I know several people that have bought and insure an old mini just to protect their NCB.
The info from Quentin is valuable.0 -
There are several insures who accept driving history as proof of no claims. It's just a matter of calling them direct. The greater danger, for most of us, lies not in setting our aim too high and falling short; but in setting our aim too low and achieving our mark0
