well as the title says really...
a few weeks ago we went to get assesed for a mortage and were told we didnt have a strong enough credit score as we had never had credit before. so last week we went back to the same bank (i have banked with them for years) and i had been preselected for a credit card years agos but always said no as i thought what do i need credit for. anyway we went through the process and the computer had it issues when the card was being applyed for so the personal banker that we always see said it would of gone through and not to worry.
fast forward a week today get home i had 4 of the same letter sorry declined for a credit card! what?!! why 4 letters so i called the bank and said what on earth is going on? turns out 2 days later they re applyed for a card ( a total of 5 applications) and i had been declined for all of them with a effect on my credit rating
apparently i have to go to the branch tomorrow and get them to sort it out. now i am livid and quite scared about the effect on my credit rating.
what would you do in my position?
*should i demand a gesture of good will?
*leave the bank?
*cry?
please help any advice would be massively greatful! thanks

You can ask the bank to put a note on your credit file stating that the applications were due to their admin error. Not sure if it would be possible to have them removed entirely, but this might at least help your case.
As you haven't lost anything material I wouldn't think you'd be likely to get anything else out of them."Every single person has at least one secret that would break your heart. If we could just remember this, I think there would be a lot more compassion and tolerance in the world."— Frank Warren0 -
I'd be well angry too. Right go back to the bank and say that you agreed to ONE credit search and not FIVE searches. They should be able to remove it. Basically when they put it through a second time and the times after that, they should have called you up (every time) to get your consent for another search. They should have seeked your permission. As far as you're concerned they did one search and there was something wrong with the system and so it should have resolved itself.0

bank should be able to remove it since you never agreed to so many in the first place0

Depends on the banks systems too, i know in some banks if you apply for the same lending
More than once in the same day, it only scores you once. This was the case at my old work.Union official.

Anything I post is solely MY OPINION. It never constitutes legal, financial or collective bargaining advice. I may tell you based on information given how I might approach an employment dispute case, but you should always seek advice from your own Union representative. If you don't have one, get one!0 -
1. Which Bank?
2. How long have you been with this bank?
3. Have you been satisfied with their service up to now?
4. Have they caused you problems before or where you happy with them till now?
All of the above would determine just how I would go on from here.0 -

Quite clear what has happened to me..
The server has crashed when applying for the card, so the banker has pressed the final apply button 5 times - he's been impatient waiting for it to load or come up with any error messages from the first click and it's put in 5 applications. Ring the bank immediately and get it removed from the CRA they deal with as it is their fault.
Bankers/advisors might be good at their job - but with regards to technology I think they may aswell work as a baker.Who are you to judge the life I live? I know I'm not perfect and don't live to be. But before you start pointing fingers - make sure your hands are clean. Bob Marley - Legend.0
