Disappointed with First Direct

I have banked with First Direct since not long after they set up shop, and like most of their customers I regularly sing their praises
A year and a week ago, I set up a Regular Saver account, and the deal was that, on maturity, the account would be closed, and the proceeds transferred into an alternative FD account
The account matured a week ago, and the interest was added to the account, but the account was 'frozen' - the money was not transferred, and I was not allowed to access the funds online
I called them, and was told that the process usually takes 4-5 days
By today nothing had changed, so I called them again. As usual, the call was answered almost immediately. The lady told me that she thought the account would be closed at the end of the month, and transferred me to 'Banking Enquiries'
I was again given the '4-5 days' explanation, despite the fact that more than 4-5 days had already elapsed
The lady said that as I needed the funds immediately, she would transfer them immediately into my 1stAccount, and she did so
As usual with 1st Direct, the problem was easily resolved, but I was disappointed that I had to chase them up in order to get them to sort it out
With First Direct, that is not usually what happens

Notwithstanding the initial technical glitch, the agent you spoke to immediately resolved your problem?
That sounds like excellent customer service to me!0 -
I can confirm the 4 - 5 working days is correct. Although it's no excuse, it's due to system restictions. Without looking at your case specifically, I am unable to know why this case took longer than that but I do do aplogise for the service you have received and hope this is resolved to your satisfaction now. Give us a call if you have any more problems.I work for first direct and have previously worked for Santander.
Any information I give should not been seen as being given from first direct or Santander however I do have certain knowledge from working there.
Thank you, Chrissy :wave:0 -
You do have the opportunity to open a new one year regular saver with First Direct paying 8% interest. That should ease you disappointment at having to wait 4/5 days.0
