Hello
I've just put in for my vountery redundancy. If I get it I've been given the 31st May as the date we will all finish. I'm planning to get another job but was wondering if I hadn't got one by then am I entitled to sign on as I'm out of work due to V.R and not because theu made me? I have no idea about benifits as have never had to use them as have been employed by same company for past 28 years but its time to move on now!:j
Thanks in advance if any one knows the answer:p

I'm pretty sure that you won't be able to get jobseekers allowance if you have taken voluntary redundancy but somebody else on here may have some more up to date information.0

I'm pretty sure that's the case also. Although, you may be entitled to contribution based JSA, if you have made enough NI contributions.0

People leaving their employer through voluntary redundancy are still leaving because of redundancy and entitled to contribution based JSA provided they have made sufficient NI contributions in previous two tax years. That would be the case for the OP unless on a very low wage and working part-time.
If someone were not entitled to contribution based JSA because of a lack of NI contributions, then they would be entitled to income based JSA if their financial situation met the rules for that.
I'n sure that Voluntary as compared with Compulsory Redundancy makes no difference.0
