Special Delivery Next day? Hmmm...

Hello,

Was just wondering if something is spent sepcial delivery is it guaranteed next day delivery?

I sold my broken iPhone yesterday, posted straight away via Special Delivery, Had a msg through off buyer saying no phone has been received? I have put my reference number through RM Tracker and it states that the item is currently being processed through their delivery network?

I have passed the tracking number on to buyer and apologised.

So my question is...Surely as I paid for Special Delivery Next day it should be there by now?!

I have certificates of posting too but I am worried now! :o

Does your receipt form the Post Office state that the item was posted after the cut-off time or does it show the date it will be delivered?

It should show both of these.

If delivery of the item is first attempted AFTER the guaranteed delivery day, then you will be due a refund of the postage cost from the Post Office.

You should pay this to your buyer.

  • Sd is 99% reliable. Your parcel should have been attemtped/delivered by 1pm today. If it was not you will be able to claim back the cost of sending it. You should ring Royal Mail as the tracking on sd rarely fails, but if it has, you need to establish if the buyer has the item and/or if RM can update the status.

I had an sd fail last week, for the first time in 12 years. It was 'attempted' delivery but something went wrong and the scan was missed, it has the same message as you are seeing on yours. However, I have a business account and my RM manager sent me the audit trail which showed the parcel was delivered a day later.
  • My reciept says...

    "Posted after last collection? No."

It then gives me my tracking number which I have passed on to the buyer.

what does the tracking say on the RM site?
    edit: missed it
most likely delayed if its showing that message
  • It says my order is currently being processed through their network..

Just got off the phone to RM lady said parcel has gone to Walton on Themes instead, she was very apologetic and explained that the parcel will be delivered tomorrow and then to ring back to claim my money back for postage.

Thanks for the replies, I was worrying a bit!

    as said,SD is pretty reliable
however missorts happen and its not always possible to get them back to the correct delivery office on time
the changes in RM and 'modernisation' have made this less likely of happening

Its possible no one was at home when it was delivered. Check with the sorting office if you can, don't leave it as the parcel will be returned to sender after I believe 7 days.

I was told that with SD items would only be kept for 7 days before being returned to the sender.
