What is Cbl Hips Payment on my bank account?

Hi there, I was hoping someone could shed some light. I got a letter from my bank (about an account which doesn't have money in it) and apparently a payment of £837.90 to Cbl Hips Payment got bounced. I've never heard of this company before, have not spent anything like that kind of amount and I don't even use this account anymore. Good thing is, they never got any money because there was no money in the account. But can anyone tell me who they are? Is this maybe fraud?

Many thanks,
Sarah-Jane

  • CBL = Choice based lettings (Goverment thing). HIPS = Home information pack
Are you thinking of letting or renting.
  • Ah! I remember now! Thanks for that! It was a referral of payment for marketing costs on a house I had on sale last year. The estate agents went bust, and the house got pulled off the market. I completely forgot about the fees!
