Ipod Touch set-up question - Sorted thanks!

I'm looking at getting either a 64GB 3rd Gen (for £239.99) or a 32GB 4th Gen (for £229.99 incl £15 Itunes voucher) Ipod touch from Argos as I need more space for music, photo's, videos etc. Is there much difference in them apart from the 'face time' (which I wouldn't use) and being able to take videos?
How long (approx) do the batteries last, are they easy to get and replace? I don't want to spend a lot of money on it and it not last very long.
I would give my existing 3rd Gen 8GB Ipod Touch (I haven't had it for long) to DS but how would I do it? Would I have to wipe it completely? Would I lose all the stuff I already have in my Itunes account? Would he have to set up his own account and what would happen to my existing account? Would I just add my new Ipod to it or would I have to start again?
I hope I have posted this in the right place but if not please move.

OK...
Batteries. They last years (this is one thing Apple do well) and can be replaced but its not easy however there's plenty of Youtube videos. My Ipod battery must be nearly 5 years old now and still going strong.
No you don't lose what is already on your Itunes account - it will just upload it to your new Ipod.0 -
Thank you - that's great. If it lasts that long i'll be happy.0

Re buying them ask around if any of your friends are flying anywhere soon, as hmv and dixons airside will always be cheaper than argos etc, ahhh the wonders of working at an airport!!Live each day like its your last because one day you'll be right0

The screen is a lot better on 4th gen iPod touch, the battery life is better, and the processor is better.I'm looking at getting either a 64GB 3rd Gen (for £239.99) or a 32GB 4th Gen (for £229.99 incl £15 Itunes voucher) Ipod touch from Argos as I need more space for music, photo's, videos etc. Is there much difference in them apart from the 'face time' (which I wouldn't use) and being able to take videos?0 -
Thank you all for your comments. Unfortunately no friends or family flying anywhere, but I'll take a look at Dixons and HMV prices. Can anyone advise me on what to do with the itunes account?0

Sync your old ipod and back up everything, then just plug in the new one and away you go. No need for a new account. If your DS wants to use your old ipod independently of your account then he will need one of his own, but you can use multiple devices on the same account.0

Well, i've just bought my new ipod. I found a 32GB 3rd Gen Ipod Touch in Argos reduced to £149.99 and it was too cheap to resist!
Scottishblondie - thanks for that, I'll do as you suggest and see what happens!0 -
Help again!
I'm in the middle of setting it up and it says 'this computer has previously been synced with and ipod or another ios device' and gives me the option (1) set up as a new ipod or (2) restore from the backup of my old ipod. Which option should I choose and if I pick the old ipod option, does that mean everything on my old ipod would still be there? I'm not sure whether music, apps etc are allowed on 2 ipods at the same time.0 -
I give up!0

If you restore, it will put the backup from your old iPod on, i.e. all apps and music etc. A fresh install will be blank, and you can then sync the apps and mucis on iTunes that you want (and have already paid for)0
