Nat west current account plus

As I am getting well p***ed off with RBS, I've applied for a Nat West account. Applied for it online and got the welcome pack yesterday. Phoned and asked them if I needed to send any supporting documentation, she said no, just sign and return it.

Now I know the dreaded AVU will definitely be looking at this so am not stupid enough to close my other account just yet. What I'd like to know is that if they don't ask for any ID does that mean the account is open or will be opened? They did the credit search the day I applied online ( a full search not a soft search)

thanks

  • The banks do checks without the need for ID eg if you have been at your address for more than 3 years etc. In answer to your question no, the account is not definitely open til you receive documentation. If you are needing to know asap, ring them up with a tracking number if you have been given one. Otherwise wait for 7-10 days for things to come ie cards and pin
  • You should just accept the fact you have been declined and stop waffling on about natwest/RBS current accounts.

You haven't been accepted until they have done their "final checks", ie AVU. If you get your debit card etc, then it should be fine. The account is not open until you receive your confirmation letter, after returning your signed form to them.

Why you bothered doing that natwest/rbs applications are processed by the same department. So if you was declined for a RBS account you will mostly likely be declined for a Natwest account.

I thought that's what this forum was for - ie bounce ideas round and find out from others what worked for them. If I knew everything I wouldn't come on here.

    Sorry to have bored you
