can anyone shed any light on this??
me and my wife have a admiral multicar policy.
last year = £1700.73
This year + £1711.18
we have had no change of address , mileage, circumstances or anything in effect we have aquired an extra years no claims bonus!!!
having phone admiral it turns out that my cars insurance has gone down by £100 but hers has gone up???
admiral said that is just due to the fact that there have been more claims for her type of car this year and maybe more claims from women. having asked how this works the lady on the phone just said its one of them things!
anyone had any similar occurances, I always thought if you drove sensible and didnt claim then your insurance would go down???

Insurance this year has gone up.
I think the average was around 30% in 2010, so relatively speaking yours has gone down in relative terms.
You should defniitely shop around.
You can get good ball park quotes very quickly from comparison sites but I would suggest using false email and phone number.
Make sure you check all the details on paperwork as the comparison sites sometimes don't pass information correctly to insurers so you should double-check everything to avoid problems down the line.0 -
Insurance Premium Tax increased from 5% to 6% on 4 January 2011.
In addition, motor insurance rates will change regularly based on claims experience.I am a mortgage broker. as i understand it, no claims bonus is worth peanuts these days, my policy is £300 with 9 years no claims, £310 without. a saving of £10!0

That doesn't soud right at all.
Where did you get the £300 quote from and where did you get the £310 quote from.
I suspect there is some other explanation such as getting a quote from a different place with an introductory discount.0 -
Shop round, you'll normlly improve on renewal prices.0

Personally I would avoid Admiral like the plague too - they have some extremely strange ways of working. Whilst I was in the middle of sorting out my renewal last year, I had a claim go to confirmed no-fault on my part (a foreign lorry driver pulled out without using his mirrors on the M25 and smacked into the side of my Renault Clio - the Highways Agency confirmed at the scene that it was his fault, and he signed a document admitting this, so the final outcome was never in doubt) so I called Admiral to confirm this, assuming that as a result my premium would go down in price a little - it had naturally increased when the claim was made in the first place, although thanks to protected NCB not so much as it might have done. Instead, Admiral told me that the claim being confirmed as no fault would mean an increase of £50.00 on the price of the policy. Absolutely unbelievable. I am aware that this has happened to others too.🎉 MORTGAGE FREE (First time!) 30/09/2016 🎉 And now we go again…New mortgage taken 01/09/23 🏡
