Current account for someone not in paid employment

Hi
Sorry if there is already a thread for this, I have had a long look but not spotted anything.
I want to change my bank account which I have had for years but I am not currently working. I am not unemployed as I am looking after my kids so I have no income apart from child benefit. I enquired informally at a few banks a few years ago but was told wait until I got another job as they were not interested.
I am not sure if anyone has been in a similar position or if anyone can recommend a bank that would take me on. Should I be looking at the basic accounts ? Am not bothered with branch banks as my nearest is miles away, would prefer online.
Thanks !

Basic account would be best like Halifax Easycash, Co-op Cashminder or Barclays Cash Card Account.0

I just didn't ask for an overdraft or anything like that.0 -
Under occupation you would be classed as a housewife and not 'unemployed' this should stand you in btte stead. Regarding income it would be any benefit or maintenance you get all totalled up. You can try for the CURRENT account at the Coop if your credit file is ok.0

Gosh thanks everyone.
I had not even thought to call myself a housewife (full time unpaid carer of small child lol) as I don't see myself as that but I guess it shows that I am just differently employed! I have been saying 'not working' !
Going to look into the suggestions - am sick of constant changes to my account and now feel a bit more empowered to move.0 -
1.You should be able to get a "Basic Bank Account".
www.moneysavingexpert.com/banking/basic-bankaccounts
2. Get the Post Office leaflet "Banking through the Post Office". Which lists all those bank accounts you can use via the counter services. It is also on their website in the "Counter Services Section" under "Using you bank account".
So you should be able to access an account nearby. Best of luck!0
