Fixed Deal Ending - Atlantic

Hi
My fixed online deal with Atlantic for my gas and elecricity is ending on 31.3.11 and I have received a mailing to advise thereafter i will change tariff. Speaking to the company the best deal they can offer is GO direct 5.

I know there is a £35 early exit penalty fee if i move before my deal ends and as I pay by direct debit I am due to have the 13th consecutive month dd refunded as part of the attraction of joining Atlantic.

From comparisons I have found EDF Online Saver 7 as the most competitive rate at present. I believe if you notify your existing supplier that you want to leave them due to the pending price increase they are obliged to honour the existing price until you move. Can anyone advise? if so would i get the penalty fee added and/or refund for 13th direct debit.

Should i start moving now by applying to EDF or wait until after 12th dd is taken on 28th March before I notify Atlantic?
Any advice would be great

Pollyk

If you are on a fixed price deal, you will be unaffected by any price change.
If you are on a variable rate, then you can reject the price increase and change supplier (see terms)

If you exit early you will be charged the early exit fee. You will probably also lose the 13th month rebate as that is based on making 12 consecutive monthy payments by direct debit.

It takes a minimum of 4 weeks to switch supplier, so if you request one today, there is a risk you will exit your current deal early.
