Is there anywhere that beats the SKipton - believe their instant access with a passbook pays 4.75%

That's down as paying 5.1% (includes 0.5% 6 month bonus) before any adjustments for the latest BofE interest rate rise.

I did check through a couple of weeks ago and noticed that the competition on the High Street looked pretty poor all round.

Unfortunately Skipton is not yet a national organisation (although it does crop up around the place eg Oxford, Nottingham, Bournemouth and Scottish cities).

Skipton is undoubtedly your best bet.
