Past Overpayment and now getting tax credits?

Hi,
Just wondering if someone could let me know, would you get paid working tax credits if you previously had a child tax credit/working tax credit overpayment?
Or would they knock off what you are now eligible for from your overpayment?
Hope that makes sense!

Did you end your original claim and start a new one - ie change of circs from couple to single or anything like that? If it's just the same continuous claim, then they should just reduce your payments a small amount to pay back the overpayment. If however, you have ended a claim, and started a new one - then they will contact you directly to make arrangements to pay back the claim.0
