paternity pay for self employed

Hi, am i entitled to any sort of paternity benefit when my partner has our baby? I would like a couple of weeks off but can afford to stop work. I'm 29, self employed and have been for 4 years, and not been out of employment since i was 17 and payed all my tax and NI since then. Any help with this would be much appreciated, thanks.

In a word, nope. Not being unemployed bears no importance - what does is your NI contributions for the previous two financial years and you've been paying Class 2 and Class 4 NIC which doesn't count towards contributions based benefits.
