Ive just joined scottish power and have a problem with my e7 setup.

Basically i think my radio teleswitch is faulty as occasionaly my heaters dont seen to switch off but sometimes they do. The e7 heaterd are only ever used occasionaly is realy cold weather but need to get it checked.

I havent a clue how these switches work but the meter seems to switch ok between night and day but the heating circuit doesnt.

Is it my responsibility to get a sparky to check the teleswitch or is that the power companys job to check, and if it proves not to be faulty will i get landed with a call out charge from scottish power.

thanks

The teleswitch is used to switch the meter between day and night which you are saying is happening correctly, this implies there is noi issue with the teleswitch. Normally the heating is on a seperate curcuit which is activated during the night rate, is this curcuit switching on?

You need to contact your supplier if you believe there is a fault with the switching. Even if it's not their direct responsibility, they are responsible for arranging the rectification of any metering device.
There will be no charge for repairing/replacing a faulty metering device.

If it's failing to switch over from low rate to normal rate, then you are getting low rate electricity all day too (although with storage heaters left on, it'll use a lot more energy)

    Hi sat56

I would suggest giving us a call to arrange an appointment to replace your teleswitch. This appointment would be done free of charge and should resolve the issue your having. If he teleswitch is replaced and your meter switches between the day rate and the night rate at the correct times, however your heaters are on too long or not long enough, then I would arrange for an independent electrician to come out and inspect the wiring.

Let me know if you have any further questions.

    Kind Regards
