Cambelt Change on Citroen Picasso

Apologies first off, as I am clueless on cars.
Just realised my car has done 85,600 miles (will be 6 years old next month) and according to the handbook the cambelt should of been changed at 75,000.
Got a quote of local independant garage for £150 to change belt, so alls good, until I start reading on web about changing full cambelt kit and water pump etc. Now I am really confused?????
Have gone back to garage and he has quoted £260 to change full cambelt kit and pump, plus another £140 to service and mot it. (using non branded kit.)
Tried another independant garage (one I haven't used before) they quoted £205 to change cambelt kit (said they wouldn't do just a cambelt only change) and £272 to do full kit plus pump. They use geniune citroen parts. (Also quoted £243 for service and mot, which I think is dear???)
Anyway my question/s are do these prices seem reasonable and any advice on what I should be changing, cambelt kit only or the pump to? Also does geniune or non genuining parts really make a difference?
I'm based in Yorkshire and Picasso is 05 plate 1.6 petrol.
Thanks in advance.

when changing cambelts it is always advisable to use a whole kit,(belt/tensioners etc) and also to do the water pump at the same time
use garage 2 for the cambelt etc, and garage 1 for the serviceIMOJACAR

^^ Or see if they'll price match“I may not agree with you, but I will defend to the death your right to make an a** of yourself.”

Kit itself is about £100 so paying for a few hours labour. I'd be tempted to see how long they expect the job to actually take and also, ring up citroen for a comparison (assuming neither of the above is main dealer)What if there was no such thing as a rhetorical question?0

Main dealer wants £299 for cambelt kit plus extra £80 for water pump :eek:0

Is the general opinion to do full kit and water pump? Also will not having it done before my mot, effect my mot?0

is this change needed at 6years or at a set milage- have an 05plate but less than 40,000miles0

thanks, have been toying with getting newer car anyway, this might influence things a little. Has been quite a good car and not really had any problems with it apart from the aircon a while ago. Is there an "age" where the picasso is worth getting rid of?0

defo change the lot if it is being stripped down anyway as the extra cost for the parts is slim in comparison to engine strip should one of the components fail.
The water pump always seems to be a bone of contention to some people but in my opinion if a new belt is fitted the extra tension will have an adverse affect on the bearings potentially causing it to fail.
as for the MOT not having it done will not cause it to fail but if it is over mileage for change you are always running risk of it breaking,if it is a diesel i would certainly get it done first as it will be put under stress when doing the smoke test.0
