Thermostatic radiator valve, wax or liquid?

Hi

I am in the process of renovating a house and I'm going to replace the central heating. When I looked at thermostatic valves for the radiators, it seens the choice is roughly between wax or liquid based ones. AAny idea which one is better?

Many thanks

  • I would worry more about the make

  • Liquid are usually better. Look at the Drayton TRV4.
  • Thank you both.

So, liquid based are the ones to go for.

    Any good brand you recommend?

I am interested to know as well. I heard Drayton are good ones, what about all the others? Danfoss - are these any good? I am considering getting Danfoss Randall RAS-D2, as I am looking for chrome one (don't want a white one for the new black radiator).

I have also seen online some Abacus Ultima TRVs, which look quite pricey, but nice... Never heard of them before though - but that means nothing, as I have never looked for ones before!
