Each to their own, but never in my life have I wanted to be in a bathroom with another person. Some things are best kept private in my opinion. But hey ho, it takes all sorts to make a world. Personally I love a good soak and rarely use the shower. Feel free to ignore the opinion of a silly old git.
I can afford anything that I want.
Just so long as I don't want much.

:rotfl: Silly old git's opinions are just as valid as anyone else's!

We realised we would probably put off some buyers when we took out the bath and, if we had thought we would be selling in the near future, we wouldn't have done it. Some people do love their baths and it isn't a good idea to restrict possible buyers.

I would keep the separate loo myself godsend next time the other half/kids are in shower a you need to answer mother nature.

Oh what I would have give to have separate loo this morning when I woke up to find my house mate in shower.

I never use a bath myself but i can see how it good thing for families.

Separate toilets might be ok, but only if they have a hand basin in them. I have at least two relatives who have separate toilets without hand basins in them, I hate using them myself. I suppose they are thought to be perfectly satisfactory amongst those types who do not wash their hands after using the toilet.

  • No problems with loos in our house as we have a downstairs cloakroom, the wc/main bathroom and the ensuite to choose from, a loo on each floor is more than enough.
    27col, all opinions appreciated, always!
  • Just a couple of observations.
You seem very happy in your new home and are obviously intending to live there for a considerable number of years, so why are you considering what someone else may think about your bathroom, when in perhaps 15 years you are ready to sell. This is your home and if I was you I'd just put the bathroom in that you want, not what someone might expect to see in 15-20 years time. Also, ask yourself this. You've been there a year and you are ready to rip out the bathroom that was fitted by the previous owners - if the next owners want to, that's exactly what they'll do. And consider the number of times you've driven past a recently purchased house which is in the process of being modelled to its new owners' preferences, and I bet you'll see either an old bathroom suite or kitchen units or both dumped in a skip.
Just go ahead and fit the bathroom you want in your house. Enjoy it and let the people who buy it in 2025 change the bathroom to how they want it. Go on, do it, you know you want to !
