Thanks for the comments. Regarding running several products at once, won't they conflict? (is it possible to have more than one anti-virus running at the same time for example?) I would have thought it would slow down the system quite a bit. I do have an i3 processor and 3GB RAM, but even so.

Yes Malwarebytes prevented attacks that other software did not.
It stopped me visiting sites that were unsafe & found & got rid of some nasties for me.

But that was when I was on Vita, since I upgraded to 7 I have not installed it, I'm trying to keep windows slimline.
(thats one of those impossible things that poeple say (forgot the word)).

More than one anti-virus running can cause conflicts and negate the whole point of installing them in the first place.

Conflicts? Of course they could, if you ran them all simulaneously! But why would you do that?!

The different pieces of Software run against differnet Virus Dictionaries. The more you use, the greater the likelyhood that you have comprehensive cover.

Personally, I have Avast running in the background all the time..

I have scheduled MalwareBytes to sychronise its database and run as a scheduled task in the middle of the night, once per week.

The others I have mentioned are also run as scheduled tasks, once per week, in the middle of the night, one at a time, to pick up anything Avast may possibly have missed.

Please elucidate , do you schedule shut down Avast install Norton/Mcrappy over night run them then use their respective removal tools
restart avast, oh and how do you schedule the responses they might need, Oh I know you schedule a troll to come in and do it for you.

I experience no conflicts with each of these piece of Software being installed simulaneously, but running one at a time.

Switching off Avast that night is a manual step - if I remember!

No troll to hand I'm afraid. The nearest bridge to my house is several miles away.

Instead, I prefer to make use of the "Always send to Vault" checkboxes that you can tick on the various bits of Software. As you've alluded to, User Interrupts aren't particuarly convenient when you're asleep in your bed...

The rest of it is done using a Bat Script. In the event that there is a User Interrupt, the next bit of Software doesn't run that night. I tend to notice that the next morning and set the next one off manually.

    Not exactly StackOverflow.com stuff :p
