sadly my turkish van cat, felix was PTS this afternoon.
an abscess burst in his face (prone to them but the last 3 months had them regular) but this time he lost alot of blood, he was dehydrated even though he was drinking water, and it seems the last anesthetic (4-5weeks ago )took its toll on him and he developed a heart murmer, survival of surgery was low, and the vet suspected multicentric leukemia.

Thank you very much. Our 16 year old cat has Cystitis. Long story short he got admitted to the Vets yesterday afternoon. He was sick in the morning and then started wetting himself where he lay. Kidneys and Liver are fine.
Took him to our local vet this morning and has been given an injection for two weeks worth of antibiotics. Should take effect in a day or so. He's still peeing where he lies. The Vet said she would be more concerned if he wasn't peeing. So hopefully he will make a full recovery.0 -

I loved Felix too Atrix! I am sure he is up there comparing notes with Nicky and Timmy, Annie and Meg and we will see them all again!
may I share some little stories about Felix on here? I have posted about him on another thread and posters found him hysterically funny!
Remember his good times hun! Like:
His habit of chasing imaginary butterflies and mice around the landing at 2.00am.
That darn rug that used to attack him for no good reason and how he would stalk it and get his own back!
how he would run hellforleather down the back lane and use the wooden fence on the corner as a wall of death!
his love of having a nice hot bath with you! (he liked the deep end).
his habit of running into the bedroom and not realising the wall was there! CRASH THUMP in the middle of the night!
How he loved to knock your guitar off its stand (I swear he just liked the noise it made!)
His adoration of Pork Scratchings, and how he could hear you opening a pack of them from upstairs, and the THUMP THUMP THUMP he made as he dashed downstairs to make sure you only had one at the most - he would then nick the packet of them out of your hand - lol.
his adventures with his partner in crime Dusty - remember how Felix would jump on top of the fridge you had and push the door open with his paws, and Dusty would then filch some delicacy and they would share it?
Neighbours fish ponds werent safe either - he ignored the fish but he did love to have a swim in them!
RIP Felix you big beautiful pusscat!!!0 -
i would like to say r.i.p to my boy felix too as he was a wouldful cat and most intelligent cat ive ever known ...
he would even run around with my children and they also loved him very much ? also would use my sink to sleep in x 0 -
felix had a knack of getting you back when you werent looking, for what we'll never know as he had his own way everytime:
my partner once had managed to upset him during the day, when we settled down to bed, i stayed up for a bit watching tv, the door was only slighlty ajar (and good job too) when i heared his heavy patter of paws climb the stairs at an alarming rate, the door flew open (hitting it with his head and not even breaking stride) leaped onto the bed and ran forward putting his weight forward then with an almighty crack head butted my partner square in the nose (by this time i'm in hysterics laughing) my partner woke to this huge black and white furball stairing her down she gently shoved hime off, he ran down to the bottom of the bed and geared up for another run, my partner hid under the blanket he jumped and ran up the bed again but this time there was nothing to butt so he stopped pawed down as to where my parters head was, gingerly my partner rose from beneath the blanket he looked at her give out a meow or two and then come to me for a cuddle, and that was that he'd got his revenge for something unknown.
i will never ever forget seeing a rare site of him out of my window on a summers night, it was warm so windows were open, i got up about 2:30 AM went to the loo as you do cam back in my bedroom and peered out of the window, accross the road from my back garden is a small field, there was 2 fox cubs playing and toying on the grass verge just off the road, then a third (or so i thought) cub came up from the grass then i took another look and it was felix playing with the pair (talk about living on the edge) i watched in amazement for 10 mins then the vixen came and gave her call the pair of cubs darted in her direction and felix just stood there so dissapointed that the fun was over, i then called him over with my unique whistle call, and in he came, slowly (you know like a kevin and perry scetch) hanging his head in disapointment, dragging time.
one of felix's greatest games was to play race you down the stairs, he used to cheat everytime, you be in a rush to get down the stairs and he'd run down right behind you then right between your legs and give you a trip so you stop and then he'd beat you to the kitchen.
if he was in a kind mood, he'd give you a kiss, then fetch you a mouse or mole alive to play with, bring it in drop it in the kitchen floor right when your about to take it off him then watch you chase it and hear the missus screem for the door. and allways when you caught it he wanted it back.
our neighbours dog used to come rushing down to him barking, any other cat would run a mile, felix turns around looks at it then chases it up the street and the dogs yelping for help!!.
he would follow me anywhere given the chance.
the only cat i knew that liked to be pushed in circles on a swivel chair!!
sleep anywhere, airing cupboard, top of wardrobe, in cupboards, on cupboards, porch roof, bathroom sink!. most cats when it starts hammering down with rain come in felix would sleep in his favourate spot in the garden and not budge rain or shine. any object he wanted out of his way would be nudged off for him to get compfy, never lay down allways flopped with all his weight.
a bath was never my own as soon as he heared the bath run straight to the tub, wait for me to get in jump up go down by the tap and lower himself in and sit on the plug and more bubbles the better!!
he also used the loo, but never flushed, drank out the tap not a bowl.
would keep me company when i was working on cars, stay right next to me underneath one, join me under the bonnet.
when the missus took the kids out in the double buggy, he'd wait till her back was turned and hop in the basket underneath, he's had many a trip to town on the bus and back.
he was truely the gentlest giant.
he's resting in his favourate spot in the garden now where he was allways at rest from the busy hustle of our household, i'm glad i chose to bring my baby boy home.
thank you all for your kind words.0 -
He sounded like a real character.

I am giggling away - that cat was a true eccentric! I loved him hun, he did have a very kind nature with little ones. Not sure I agreed with him that Starlings were good presents for 3 year olds though! remember when he caught those starlings when I was minding GS and your youngest? twice in one week he caught and killed Starlings and brought them to the patio door.!
remember when he followed you down to my house and was sitting on the stairs when your bro brought his dog in? LMAO his fur bushed out - he growled like a pit bull and the poor dog wet herself! we had to shut the cat in the bedroom! and the poor dog couldnt wait to leave! normally she loved coming to visit!0 -
What great stories, sounds like he was a right character, I'm sure he'll be missed, best wishes.0
