housing benefit but have been left a share of a house

I have been left a third share of a house worth £200000 in a will , however untill the house is sold i do not have this money .
What can i do to claim housing benefit as i cant afford to rent untill the house has sold .?

HAs probate been granted? It might be best to see if the executor can sell the house and then pass on the money.

Hi yes probate has been granted , however the executor wont have anything else to do with the house ,
i have been given notice to quit my current tenancy so cant stay here .

I don't know the answer but perhaps Shelter will, or your local council if you ask them.

Hi i was given the right to occupy , but it is uninhabitable the 2 othere people live miles away and have there own property and families.

If it has electricity and running water, it's habitable. I'd move in.
