interesting link that
the image and description appears to show a widescreen monitor but the max resolution is listed as 1280 x 1024 which suggests it is not widescreen.
you would expect a resolution of 1440 x 900 for widescreen at 19in.
perhaps you aren't interested in widescreen anyways so i would try finding one of these at a cheaper price. I got one on offer for less than 175 4 months back.
Check the reviews here and hereNURSE: "Shouldn't it be sterilized, doctor?"
DR. BENWAY: "Very likely but there's no time."0 -
Yeah, strange one that - I couldn't find that particular model on the Philips website - this being the only 19" widescreen I could find there.
And as DrBenway says, a 19" widescreen would normally have a 1440 x 900 native res, though it does say '1280 x 1024 Maximum Monitor Resolution', which is how some manufacturers choose to describe this.
By the way, Philips make excellent TFT monitors (going by a few reviews I've read).
I went in for this Hanns-G 19" widescreen TFT (for £105 at the time) a few months ago & have been very happy with it. G0 -
Thanks for your replies DrBenway and GoofyGat. I also had looked at the Philips website and couldn't find this model. Probably produced soley for PC World, I am going to have a closer look at it over the weekend. The monitors you both have look very good.
Anyone reading this that has bought the Philips X19 from PC World?

I've brought this monitor, and from what Belarc Advisor shows me this looks like a reconditioned Proview monitor.
The resolutions for widescreen seem to be 1280x720 and a native 1440x900. A ratio of 16:10... apparently.
There appear to be no drivers on the Proview website for WinXP, apparently all monitors are designed for plug&play.
There is no DVI input, only VGA.
Saying that the monitor seems pretty good to me. I'd recommend upping the size of text on screen, some fonts look jaded.
PC World however was as fun as ever. They put it through the till fo £199.99, even though it is advertised in store for £179.99. So double check the price before you pick it up.0 -
I have got the philips x19 and i have to say it is good.
very sharp and good colour, but if you watch a dvd with say a lot of night shoots in it, it looks like a CRT monitor with the brightness turned up to much.
In other words the black is not very good.
You wont notice this with photos unless thay are very dark photos and web pages look Brill.
There is also some blurring in games, inspite of the 5ms update speed.
Hope this is of some help.0 -
Thanks for the information everyone, much appreciated. When I started this thread, PC World were selling it online for £159.99 however it has now gone up to £179.99 or £199.00 dependant on which link you follow on their website! I spotted a nice looking monitor in Costco at weekend, a 20" LCD Philips (model 200w6cs/00) which they are selling at £234.96 incl VAT. This monitor appears to be £300+ online and I am very tempted to buy it.0
