Comet Extended Warranty on Dektop PC

Hi all

just looking for some advice. My father bought a HP desktop from Comet about 2 years ago with a 5 years Extended Warranty.

Three Weeks ago his Hard drive died on the PC. So i advised him to return the PC back to Comet.

He received the Desktop back with out any Operating System on it. The system would have had one on before the drive died. Comet adv him he would need to buy new disks to install (Which i think is wrong).

The other issue when Comet took ownership of the PC they did an Visual inspection to check for damages i.e scratches and knows on the unit. They signed a document to say that it was in a good condition .

On receiving the PC back the rear of the display is call scratched badly. They are saying that can not do anything about this as its wear and tear. They were not there when it was returned

Where do we stand with these issues ?

Do you not have 'restore disks'? Usually there is an option to create them on PC's and laptops. As the scratches are out of sight and do not affect the PC working I'd let it go...it's a pain, but not worth upset about.

He never made any restore disks . I work within IT industry to get install disks that would work on a OEM PC is no haste. but they state that they would return the pc in a working order . I can't see how this can be fully tested with out a full OS instal.

Any it a all in one desktop HP. Sim build to a imac can't Rember the model number

Yea just asking because if it was a Dell then it would of came with recovery discs so Comet are under no obligation to provide them again, but as the HDD failed it's a case of re-imaging the system so the recovery partition on the HP is there (and should be done at the repair centre)
