Do I give mother-in-law money?

Hi Peeps

It's my mother-in-laws birthday is today. I had purchased a perfume gift box for her in the sale (not cheapo, Lancome from £45 to £28)but now I am thinking of giving her £200 cash!

The reason is that it's my sis-in-laws wedding (her daughter) and my MIL has gifted me with lots of expensive outfits and gold. She has also purchased outfits for my husband (her son) and I think its probably in excess of £700-£800.

Now, I don't normally become all generous at anyone's birthday but because I had saved money for the outfits already and she has now gifted them instead, I am thinking of giving her part of the money as a bday gift as she won't accept money just like that.

Does anyone have suggestions?.. should I give money? If so is £200 sufficient (as I still need to give more.. I had budgetted £850 for everything).

She may think it's cheeky that I (well my hubby and I) only gave her that much (if she's that switched on about it) or she may take it as a huge present...

any ideas?

I'd thake the gift from her in the spirit it was intended and give her the birthday gist of the size you would normally give.
Mama read so much about the dangers of drinking alcohol and eating chocolate that she immediately gave up reading.

Its a birthday so birthday sized gift that you would do every year.

Find other ways to pay her back, meals out, part/all of a holiday.

if she mentions something maybe get it for her

If she has been realy helpfull over the wedding perhaps a weekend break at a spa or something else she would like in with the thank you card.
