Problem Connecting to Wireless Network

I've got a Dell latitude d360 laptop and im trying to connect to the Mrs. parents wireless network and it just ain't working. I get that wee yellow triangle saying error so i click the repair button and i get the message of:

This process could not be completed - renewing your IP address.

Anyone got any ideas what the problem might be?

I had a wee look in the properties section of the wireless networks and it says:

Wireless connection status - Activity sent 99 received 0

It sounds like the wireless key you have entered may be wrong. Re-check it, and make sure the case is correct.
Do you know what encryption they are using - WEP, WPA or WPA2 - if it's the newer WPA2, does your wireless card support it.

Could also be they have MAC filtering switched on too.

If your (network cards) names not on that list it will be denied too.

Ask them if they have done it, if they are not techncial they probably wont have though.
