oven expert advise please??

well, my CDA oven decided it doesnt want to work anymore, halfway through cooking chicken dinner for my 3 kids! lights are on, fan works but no heat! been told i need a new element. CDA want £89.50 just to look at it  i have someone who can fix it but getting the part is proving to be tricky. i have searched for the oven model but not found the same element anywhere. so would i be able to use the same wattage and size element made by a different company or do i have to buy a genuine CDA one?? can anybody recommend anywhere to get one from please??

my oven is sc210ss
2250 W max
3 turn element

please help if you can, i need my oven!!

Try ringing a small independant electrical shop.
Often they can get 'pattern' ones at half the price or less.

Let us know how you get on please.
make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.

ebay is the best place to get parts like this. unbranded, but very cheap.
oven elements often cost about 10/20 quid. rarely more than 30 quid.
    Get some gorm.

Get a local white goods engineer in to fix it. Mine charges only £49 fixed fee for call out, diagnosis and repair (even if a return visit is required after parts have been ordered).
I can supply a link if you need this service in London or South East (i have no connection with the company).
No free lunch, and no free laptop ;)

Put "CDA element" into ebay search and loads come up from as low as £6.60. No need to be the same make.
  • oven elements are quite easy to replace, but you need to get the right measurements. the two "prongs" where it connects to the oven are the crucial bits. there are many different spacings.

I reccommend you remove the old one then measure it and then search ebay. I believe elements for cda ovens are the same as candy and maybe moffat

    try these guys

oven makers buy in components like these. so one element will fit many different ovens/cookers.
also some some ovens are just rebadged. virtually identical to other ovens.
so dont get hung up over branded items. they want you to do that so that you pay way over the true market price.
    Get some gorm.
