Renault Dealer Sold me a Damaged Car

Hello there,

i recently purchaed a Renault Clio (08) plate from a Renault Dealer.

I was advised at the time that they dont sell vehicles that have been involved in any sort of accident.

I paid £5,500 for the car and drove away. Yet 2 months down the line i noticed the horn didnt work. The car is still under warranty and the horn is being replaced.

Today i got a phone call and i was asked if id damaged my bumper? Which i replied "No". Apparently there is damage behind the bumber and to replace the horn they have to supply me with a new bumper as it was damaged.

Although there is no charge for this, should my car have cost me £5,500 as they have mis-sold me?

Regards

if no insurance claim was made for the damage then it would not show up on a standard search done by the dealer

What was the extent of the damage and why do they have to replace a bumper to repair a horn?

    google HPI

If it was a franchised dealer, it would already have had an HPI done.

The car probably came off the road in the snow and the owner got it repaired independently to avoid losing no claims bonus.

With most people now being unwilling to use their insurance for minor shunts, we'll see a sharp increase in the number of "unrecorded" accidents. No amount of HPI checking will ever reveal these!!

It sounds like when they were replacing the horn, they noticed that the bumper was damaged, and some of the newer moulded ones may not be repairable. If this is the case and the garage thought that the damage made the car unsafe or unroadworthy then they probably wouldn't be allowed to let it out of the garage in case they were held liable if the bumper didn't do its job properly in an accident.

^^ Or simply because the clips on the bumper were broken, they had to remove it and they didn't want you coming back saying "you fixed my horn last month and now my bumper has fallen off".

Or, the conspiracy theory..... One of the trainee mechanics drove the car into something and is now trying to cover his !!! :s

Maybe after you bought it someone else hit your car whilst it was parked?
