Redundancy - new contract - advice needed

Hi

I've just been made redundant from a permanent job but redeployed into a one year contract with the same local government employer. However, they now tell me there is no pay protection (ie maintaining my present salary for a year) because this new (lower paid) contract is externally funded.

Had I got another permanent job at lower grade, then pay protection might have applied.... yet I'm not being employed by the external body - this is continuous service and our own policy seems to suggest pay protection should apply.

Help?

WHats the pay drop enough to no longer make it a suitable alternative

Can you reject it on those grounds and get redundancy.
  • It's not enough to justify rejecting the job and another year's salary but enough to be annoying given the rising costs of everything!

But better than the dole.... :(
