I phoned the branch about 10am and picked up the items about 12 midday. I had the last 2 clearance 40GB MiniHD in the store.

When did you phone them as I phoned them this afternoon (about 3pm) and they said none of the 40GB left, they have 1 60GB in stock at £22.91. Thanks
Oops, I forgot to quote the sender's message in my previous reply. I phoned the branch about 10am and picked up the items about 12 midday. I had the last 2 clearance 40GB MiniHD in the store.

Now I know why the lad, who checked stock for me, told me he didn't know why everyone was asking about HD yesterday :p
    Titch :)

Picked up the last CrossFire / SmartDisk 160Gb external drive from Slough tonight.

Only USB2, no firewire, but then it was only £29.91

I can confirm that the SmartDisk 160GB external USB 2.0 hard disk is available in the Liverpool branch of Staples. They had about 20 left on the shelf and 2pm today - that's approximately 18p per gigabyte! It's this model:

They also had the LACIE External FireWire 250Gb hard disk (Design by Porsche) for £60, this model:

  • BTW - The code on the receipt was 0785134007643. This does seem like a really good deal - is it worth starting a separate thread particular model?
  • Just picked up the last Archos AV700 40GB for £199.99. Cheapest on the net is over £250.

Also got a couple of LaCie 250GB external drives for £59.99each
    Matched betting profits since 11/10/06 = £1,554
  • Just phoned the Gateshead branch about the 160GB Crossfire drives - the bloke asked if that was the £49 ones, I said no, the ones for £29.91 - he said "Oh they've dropped the price again".

He went away and checked and said they didn't have any but admitted if they had he would have bought them all on his CC and sold them on to mates!

He then asked if I had a part number - I quoted the 13 digit number thinking he was going to see if any other stores had any stock but then he just said 'Goodbye' and hung up!

Missed this one I guess, but thanks to the OP.

    Cheers,

Spoke to someone in the Carlisle store - he said that the staff get the best bargains. He was a bit miffed at not spotting the Archos drive on Tuesday before I bought it!!

The guy you were on the phone to probably said Goodbye as he was about to drop the pile of drives that he was off to pay for...:D

Whilst I was there, one of the staff was busy acquiring a Sony MP3 which had presumably had a price drop to less than the SEL currently stated. His mate was checking SKUs for other £xx.91 stock whilst I was standing there! His eyes didn't light up, so there can't have been any new eBay fodder for him to buy!

Carlisle store still has some WiFi stuff and a couple of Maxtor 200GB USB (not NAS) drives and a 400GB Seagate, lots of 1GB CF Cards and 128MB Memory Sticks, various printers, Philips Lightscribe drives, phones, phone accessories, a few SatNavs and other miscellany in the £xx.91 section, but no steals evident!
