Try sunflower or olive oil. Or a massage carrier oil - you're unlikely to be able to produce a wax at home, but an oil version should be OK if you can get hold of the necessary pure essential oils. Somewhere like summernaturals or culpeppers might be a good starting point.Hmmm...wonders if I can feel another experiment coming on - ie making my own version of tiger balm and using something else as a base besides petrochemicals:cool:. Hmm...maybe lanolin? maybe lard? maybe hard white vegetable oil? Goes off pondering....
Ceridwen ,Squeeze me for butting in,... but, were you not talking recently about a beeswax or honey comb thing.
Would that not do for a wax type base?.. just a thought.C.R.A.P.R.O.L.L.Z # 40 spanner supervisor. No problem can withstand the assault of sustained thought.Only after the last tree has been cut down. Perhaps peeps might like to try Tiger Balm instead of Deep Heat? Thats what I use personally in equivalent circumstances.
Now think perhaps I should go and google what the ingredients are to be safe. This is an old Chinese remedy - which, fortunately, has become available in this country in recent years - so I would imagine its more a case of "made with herbs" than "made with chemicals".
<Right...off for a quick google to see if I can find out....>
EDIT: Back again - and it IS natural. See:

I use white tiger balm for headaches instead of 4head there is a red one too. The red one is supposed to be stronger and they also doa liniment. Could always use wintergreen ( I think that is the one rugby players use)0 -
I once made a rub similar to Vics using beeswax and almond oil as the base. I added peppermint and eucalyptus EO's and some menthol crystals.
If you wanted a warming type rub, you could add ginger or cinnamon, but go very carefully with those.0 -
I've seen it in Poundland.0

Could I not just use a rugby player instead? I think that would make even one of my really bad migraines disappear !:p:DMe, OH, grown DS, (other DS left home) and Mum (coming up 80!). Considering foster parenting. Hints and tips on saving £ always well received. Xx
