3 Bids, all the same person, all the same price?

I have three bids on an auction, they are all from the same person and all for the same price - they are showing as three seperate bids though ----?? I am guessing s/he is simply entering a higher proxy bid to ensure they dont lose the auction, is this the idea or can anyone tell me what is happening??

Your explanation is the right one. Your buyer has bid once, gone away and decided to up her proxy bid which she then did twice. As she cannot outbid herself with her proxy bid, her lowest overall bid, ie your opening price, will stand until a second bidder enters a bid.

Bonus! So at least I know that s/he is prepared to pay more than the starting price so if someone else bids it should creep up a quid or two at least, its no guarantee but a re-assuring sign i guess! Thanks Soo

Depends how badly you want an MP3 player - lol!
The auction ends 22nd Feb at 17:22 so hopefully someone should bid on it in the meantime.... If not I might take you up on this offer!!Official DFW Nerd 210

I find most people bid ver early on into the auction or very very late. There is a gap in the middle when no one seems to bother.0 -

I think hes after pushing the price up for you, not actually bidding to win lol0 -
Has anyone ever done this succesfully? I'd be well nervous that no-one would outbid the fake bidder and that would mean it would end up with no sale! eeek! LOL!Official DFW Nerd 210

I'm not accusing you of this, but it just reminded me of my biggest gripe with Ebay at the moment.
You know what I HATE about Ebay??!! The people who open multiple accounts and think they're smart by bidding on their own stuff to bump the price up!!
I was watchin' a pair of Ludacris concert tickets the other week and the price jumped from £2 to £80 in about 2 hours!!!!! I checked the sellers other items and surpise ...the other tickets he was selling all had bids by the 'same person' for ridiculous amounts!!
I emailed the seller a very huffy email sayin' I knew exactly what he was doing! He didn't even reply,so I just got a friend to bid a stupid price and mess up his auctions!
Oh diddums!
Since those stupid Ebay adverts have been on TV, it's encouraged all sorts of idiots to Ebay to con the honest buyers and sellers out of their money!!0 -
I listed my auction as both 'auction format' and 'buy-it-now' and i've just gone back to look at it and the 'buy-it-now' option has gone!! I know I did it because I have more than one of this item and earlier today I relisted the same product using the same format exactly and this one is showing the 'buy-it-now' option!!
Any ideas!!!!!?????

Once you have a bid in the BIN option disappears. The only time the BIN would stay after the first bid is where you also have a reserve and the bid does not meet the reserve.
