Selling BA airmiles on ebay

Hi - I'm selling British Airways airmiles on bay and had offered to sell in bundles of 19,000 miles as that's as many as BA allow you to transfer to another person - they also charge a £140 transfer fee to do this!

A buyer has contacted me with the following question - please tell me what you think. I don't plan to use BA airmiles again and would be happy to cancel the credit card I have that's associated with the account.

hi
i would like to buy the whole 70000 miles, for that i need if possible to get access to your account for a week or two just the time to book a ticket then you could have your account back once i used all the miles(within the week or two).if you look at my feedback i have bought thousands of airmiles that way in the past years or so and never had any complain or problems whatsoever.people use to sell their air miles a/c but for some reason it is becoming fashionable on ebay just to sell 19000 miles and pay a very expensive transfer fees of £140 and to be honest with it is cheaper just to buy those 19000 miles strait from ba.if your are ok with my proposal just tell me how much you would let go the 70000 miles?as you can see from my 100%feedbacks i am a very serious person.

DON'T DO IT! You are not allowed to let anyone have access to your credit card details at all and is one of the terms and conditions you will have signed when you took out the credit card. I would imagine that this would count as fraud too surely. How about they buy the miles from you and you book them a ticket?

That's kind of what I thought, thanks.
I don't know whether my Amex details are linked to my BA Executive Club account & if so can I remove them. I don't actually use the credit card and would happily close that account.
I looked at the buyer's feedback & they bought ordinary airmiles from someone who was offering their account password etc - I think I'll email that seller and ask if any problems

Means nothing, the "seller" could be part of the con (thats how they usually work).

(The "style" of English used in the e-mail you quote is rather like some of the fake bank security e-mails that go around)

Hello OP so you give the buyer access to your miles account, they then transfer three lots of 19,000 out to their friends accounts and you get to pay three transfer fees using your linked credit card, then they use the remaining 14,000 miles and your card details to buy a ticket to Australia First Class and then give you back the empty account. That sounds like a really good plan.

Oh and you really ought to remove the details of the sale from your post as you shouldn't reveal your Ebay ID on MSE.

Thanks for your help Pembroke. The credit card is not linked in that its details can be accessed from my Exec Club account - I've just a) tried a transaction without putting in any details and b) phoned to check - it's not a BA credit card but an Amex which collects points which are then added to the Exec Club account.

a hundred k is worth a 1st class international seat and i priced some of those at thousandsi 'm not a greedy person but i dont think a broker should be making double or triple what i get for the real estate.
